r and K selection theory
r и K теории отбора — теория в популяционной экологии, при помощи которой пытаются установить, в каких условиях окружающей среды ведущим является r-отбор, т. е. отбор в пользу внутренне присущей скорости естественного увеличения численности (роста) популяции, а когда K-отбор, определяемый пропускной способностью окружающей среды (см. Отбор). Считают, что в условиях, когда популяция может увеличиваться (расширяться, расти) благодаря достаточному количеству пищевых ресурсов, которые не лимитируют ее рост, действует r-отбор. Когда же недостаток пищевых ресурсов ограничивает размер популяции, то действует K-отбор, и один из генотипов может получить большее распространение за счет другого. Поскольку r-отбор действует в условиях, когда пищевые ресурсы могут резко изменяться, то преимущество имеют виды, которые быстро размножаются, производя большое количество потомков. K-отбор действует в популяциях, защищенных от влияния окружающей среды, и преимущество имеют виды, которые размножаются более медленно и производят меньшее количество потомков, хорошо адаптированных к относительно стабильным средовым условиям.
